What the role is

One of IMDA BizTech Group’s interest area is to develop solutions based on large language models (LLMs) that drive real-world innovation. Our team includes AI scientists and researchers, data engineers, and platform engineers who are passionate about scalable AI systems and ethical responsible AI development.

We’re seeking a motivated and curious fresh graduate to join our AI engineering team. You will work closely with senior engineers to design, train, and evaluate large language models (LLMs). This is a hands-on role where you’ll gain deep exposure to cutting-edge machine learning techniques and infrastructure at scale.

What you will be working on

You will be working alongside product managers, AI scientists and engineers as one team to grow a legal domain model, GPT-Legal. Responsibilities include: 

  • Engage lawyer volunteers and analyse demand use cases  

  • Interpret the use cases and translate to specific model tasks for AI scientist to develop model training strategies 

  • Hands-on with lawyers to create and validate training data and model performance 

  • Contribute to the training, fine-tuning, and evaluation of LLMs. 

  • Assist in developing data processing pipelines and model training workflows 

  • Collaborate with researchers on algorithmic improvements and performance optimization. 

  • Test and deploy models using distributed computing tools. 

  • Document experiments, results, and processes systematically. 

What we are looking for

Degree holder in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or in relevant engineering discipline or law with technology modules 

Basic understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including deep learning architectures

Coding experience in Python and Web programming 

Interest or prior project in either one of the following areas: 

  • Natural Language Processing (NLP), recommendation system and/or Synthetic AI 
  • AI tasks optimisation

Good communication skills, both verbal and written  

Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
