What the role is

IMDA's Media Industry Group is the driving force behind Singapore's transformation into a leading global media hub. The role works at the intersection of industry development, and innovation to grow Singapore's media ecosystem - from supporting local production companies to attracting international media investments. In this role, you'll be part of our efforts to strengthen Singapore's position in the global media value chain, working directly with industry stakeholders to identify growth opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and build data-driven insights that shape the future of our media landscape. You'll contribute to initiatives that not only support local talent and companies but also position Singapore as the preferred destination for media production and content creation in Asia.

What you will be working on

We are seeking a dynamic individual to shape our media ecosystem development and accelerate the growth of our media economy. You will contribute to research initiatives that identify emerging opportunities across the evolving content landscape, forge partnerships with key industry players and technology innovators, and evaluate the effectiveness of our content sector development efforts. Your work will be instrumental in positioning Singapore as a premier content creation hub and expanding our media technology capabilities. 

 

1. Assist in research to identify market opportunities for TV and film content produced by SG media companies. 

 

2. Assist in data analysis (e.g., building data models) to extrapolate potential revenues of: 

  • Media companies, and 
  • TV and film IPs (i.e. estimated nett revenue gains) 

 

3. Support the development of media strategies and programmes that drive the growth of media companies and talent. This includes engaging industry stakeholders, studying market research reports, administering surveys to gather insights. 

 

4. Collate learnings from past and ongoing TV and film projects to generate insights that inform and guide the development of future programmes. 

What we are looking for

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: Work with various internal and external stakeholders to establish strategic and high impact partnerships. 

 

Research and project management skills: Experience conducting market research, surveys, and stakeholder engagement across the media value chain. Able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously. 

 

Strategic and analytical mindset: Ability to distil and translate insights into actionable recommendations, and passion for developing Singapore's media ecosystem

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
