What the role is

This is a 2-year position as a Lecturer, Community Development & Communications in the School of Humanities & Interdisciplinary Studies.

We are seeking passionate and forward-thinking individuals with expertise in community development to join our academic team. The successful candidate will contribute to the Diploma in Psychology and Community Development (PCD) and be expected to teach core PCD modules. Specifically, we are looking for candidates with domain knowledge in areas such as Partnership Engagement & Volunteer Development, Community Psychology and Advocacy. In addition, the lecturer will also teach the school’s critical core modules related to communication and global skills.

What you will be working on

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Curriculum development, course delivery (face-to-face/online) and project supervision for youth and adult learners in the following areas:

  • Community Development

  • Psychology, including Social Psychology, Community Psychology & Advocacy

  • Partnership Engagement & Volunteer Development

  • Workplace Communication

  • Supervision of interns, final year project groups

  • Leading and identifying new opportunities, initiatives and collaborations with the industry, institutes of higher learnings & related agencies

  • Handle administrative work relating to teaching and assigned projects

  • Able to teach at least one evening or weekends in the week

  • Undertake functional roles such as outreach, student development, resource planning etc.

  • Lead student overseas trips

What we are looking for

  • A degree in Social Work, Psychology or related disciplines

  • Direct practice and work experience in operations and management of social and community services

  • Preferably familiar with working with youths, seniors, or persons with special needs/disabilities

  • Preferably has experience working on social sustainability and/or behavioural insights project

  • Experience in teaching communications related subjects and/or have IT skills will be an advantage

  • An agile team player with good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Project/time management and attention to detail
