Software Engineer, Customer Insights & Systems, CXD [GRIT@Gov]

Description of Division/Branch: The Customer Experience Division (CXD) is dedicated to ensuring a positive and consistent service experience for the citizens the Ministry of Social and Family Development serves. Our Customer Insights and Systems team drives innovation and excellence in service delivery through leveraging the use of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Responsibilities: • Support in analysing requirements for frontline officer training scenarios and translating them into technical specifications • Research and evaluate implementation approaches for AI-driven training solutions, including machine learning frameworks and conversational AI technologies • Assist in developing and implementing evaluation frameworks to measure training effectiveness and user engagement • Assist in designing system architecture and identifying technical requirements, infrastructure needs, and integration points for the AI training bot • Collaborating with stakeholders to rapidly prototype and iterate on training bot functionality • Gain hands-on exposure to conversational AI models and enterprise training datasets

Functional/Technical Competencies Required: • Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field • Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in AI development (Python preferred); experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React/Next.js, Vue.js, Svelte, or SolidJS is advantageous • Interest or basic familiarity with machine learning concepts, natural language processing, or conversational AI systems • Basic awareness of agentic AI frameworks and methodologies (e.g., LangChain, CrewAI, LangGraph, or Microsoft AutoGen) or eagerness to learn multi-agent system development • Exposure to software development practices including version control, testing, and documentation • Familiarity with web development frameworks, APIs, or chatbot development platforms is advantageous; knowledge of existing conversational AI platforms (e.g., Google Dialogflow) is a plus General Competencies: • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail • Good research, communication, and presentation skills • An interest in AI-driven service solutions and emerging technologies • Proactive attitude with ability to work independently and collaboratively
