The job of an academic is challenging and meaningful. Not only will he/she has both the knowledge and working experience, he/she must also possess a passion for working with youths, nurturing them, and moulding their characters. There will be opportunities to develop the curriculum, introduce new courses as well as be involved in consultancy and other applied research projects. Administrative work related to teaching and School/Institutional strategic initiatives will be an important part of the job too. Successful candidates will be expected to be resourceful and innovative with initiative and good communication skills.

Lecturer (Civil Engineering)

The appointee should be competent to teach diploma and higher levels in at least four of the following key areas of the Built Environment Industry Transformation Map (ITM) and Civil Engineering domains:
- Integrated Planning and Design (IPD)
- Advanced Manufacturing and Assembly (AMA)
- Sustainable Urban Systems (SUS)
- Structural Mechanics & Analysis
- Reinforced Concrete Design & CAD
- Steel Design & CAD
- Transportation Engineering

What you will be working on

Responsibilities: -

  • Conduct lessons, create teaching and assessment materials and mentoring of students
  • Develop and maintain new or existing teaching curriculum and learning materials for modules stated above
  • Deploy effective pedagogy to facilitate learning
  • Undertake projects or consultancy work with both internal and external stakeholders, especially in the areas of Built Environment ITM

What we are looking for

Requirements: -

  • Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering
  • Relevant industry experience and/or knowledge of the implementation of Built Environment ITM and adoption of ITM key areas in the current/ future industry outlook
  • Passionate about education and possess strong interest in teaching and mentoring students
  • Self-driven, independent and possess readiness to work as a team
  • People-oriented individual with strong interpersonal, written and communication skills
  • Candidates with the following will have an added advantage: Chartered Engineer registered with IES or/and Green Mark Professional (GMP) accredited by SGBC

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
