What the role is

Description of Division/Branch: The Customer Experience Division (CXD) is dedicated to ensuring a positive and consistent service experience for the citizens the Ministry of Social and Family Development serves. Our Customer Insights and Systems team drives innovation and excellence in service delivery through leveraging the use of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI). If you are passionate about applying your technical skills to create meaningful social impact, we want to hear from you.

What you will be working on

Responsibilities: • Perform data ETL (Extraction, Transformation and Loading) on both quantitative and qualitative datasets from multiple sources • Conduct text analytics, sentiment analysis, and statistical analysis to derive actionable insights • Design and develop interactive monitoring dashboards that effectively visualise both quantitative metrics and qualitative findings • Support the development of automated and scalable reporting processes • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify key performance indicators and translate business requirements into analytical solutions

What we are looking for

Functional/Technical Competencies Required: • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field • Strong quantitative and analytical aptitude / skills with demonstrable experience (coursework or project experience) in data analysis and statistical methods • Proficiency in at least one of the data manipulation and analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL) • Experience with data visualisation tools and dashboard development (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms) • Fundamental knowledge of text analytics, sentiment analysis techniques, and qualitative data analysis methods General Competencies: • Good research, communication, and presentation skills with ability to translate complex data into clear insights • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality • An interest in customer insights and service improvement through data-driven approaches • Proactive, problem-solving attitude with ability to work with diverse datasets and stakeholders • Eagerness to learn with mentorship and guidance from experienced data analysts

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
