As the Lead Engineer for HTX’s Agentic Code Assist solution, you will own the technical architecture of HTX's production agentic AI system. You will design and implement the secure integration layer that connects state-of-the-art LLMs with NGINE's complex ecosystem of internal tools such as Git Repository, Issue & Document Management Platforms, Kubernetes, Observability Platform within our secure infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring both deep technical expertise and the ability to guide a team of platform engineers while serving as the technical counterpart to leading frontier AI labs in partnership discussions.

What you will be working on
• Architecture Design: Design the end-to-end architecture for the agentic code assistant, including VS Code extension, orchestration service, LLM integration layer, vector database (RAG), and secure tool connectors
• Security & Compliance: Architect security controls implementing least-privilege access, OAuth token impersonation from authenticated user sessions, and ensure all components operate within secure network boundaries
• Partner Integration: Serve as the technical counterpart to leading frontier AI labs, understanding their agentic frameworks and SDKs, evaluating model capabilities, and guiding deployment/optimization within HTX’s infrastructure
• Connector Framework: Design a standardized, model-agnostic interface for LLM integration
• Tool Integration Strategy: Define patterns for secure API connectors to internal systems, establishing authentication flows, rate limiting, error handling, and observability standards
• Technical Decision Making: Make critical architectural decisions around vector databases, embedding strategies for RAG, context window management, and agentic workflow orchestration
• Team Leadership: Mentor a team of platform engineers, conduct code reviews, establish engineering best practices, and ensure knowledge sharing across the squad
• Observability: Design and implement central management dashboard tracking usage metrics, tool invocations, success rates, and system health indicators
What we are looking for
• 7+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in platform/infrastructure engineering roles
• Strong expertise in designing secure, distributed systems with experience in high-security or regulated environments
• Deep understanding of authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT) and security best practices
• Hands-on experience integrating with REST APIs (GitLab, Jira, Confluence, Kubernetes API, Elasticsearch)
• Solid understanding of LLMs, including inference optimization, context window management, and RAG architectures
• Experience with Python backend development and API design (FastAPI, Flask)
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud-native architectures
• Proven track record of technical leadership and mentoring engineers
• Experience deploying and operating LLMs in production (vLLM, TensorRT-LLM, or similar)
• Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGPT, or similar frameworks)
• Understanding of vector databases (Milvus, Weaviate, Qdrant) and embedding models
• Experience with MLOps platforms, Ray clusters, or GPU infrastructure
• Knowledge of GitOps workflows and DevSecOps practices
• Prior work on developer tooling, IDE extensions, or CLI tools is a plus but not required

All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
