What the role is

At MDDI, we envision a government where key decisions about policies and how we communicate are informed by insights on how our citizens think about the issues at stake. We call this Sentiments and Behavioural Research (SBR) – quantitative, qualitative, and behavioural insights research that seek to understand how people think about an issue and how they might respond to a policy. This understanding helps to shape the policies we make, and how we communicate. Ultimately, it impacts Singaporeans’ day-to-day lives. What you will be working on

You will be part of a high-performing team that undertakes in-depth research work that is aimed at helping the ministry gain a better understanding of public sentiments across key clusters of Government. The team’s role is to leverage evidence-based approaches to advise stakeholders on key policy, programme and communication interventions. To succeed in this role, you will need to have an objective and evaluative mind to provide rational perspectives on public policy issues, to develop partnerships with key agencies, and effectively tap into a range of research tools.

What we are looking for

Preferred candidates should: • Demonstrate interest and awareness of emerging digital policy issues (e.g., online harms, digital inclusion, AI governance etc.) • Be open-minded, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment • Possess initiative and be able to work independently and efficiently • Be able to collaborate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team and diverse stakeholders • Have an interest in communications, public policy, and digital society issues • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills • Have experience with social science research design and quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and analysis (e.g., surveys, focus groups) Competency in using statistical analysis software (e.g. SPSS, R) for data analysis is a plus but not required.
