What the role is

We are seeking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join the Vector Control and Operations Division, which is responsible for planning and implementing vector-borne diseases surveillance, prevention, and control programmes. An evidence-based, integrated vector management approach underpins the work that the Division does and requires close partnership and concerted efforts by multiple internal and external partners and stakeholders.

What you will be working on

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Conceptualise and drive new vector surveillance (e.g. Gravitraps) and control (e.g. rat management) work initiatives from inception to implementation
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders (including the vector control industry) on topics related to vector control with the objectives of strengthening capabilities, preparedness and enhancing responses to vector infestation and outbreaks of vector-borne diseases.
  • Conceptualise strategies and formulate/review operational policies and plans on vector control 
  • Develop/review surveillance and enforcement guidelines and procedures for vector control operations, taking reference from approved policies and laws
  • Conduct investigations and follow up with necessary enforcement on sale of unregistered pesticide and unlicensed vector control technicians / vector control workers carrying out vector control work.
  • Regularly review work processes in view of enhancing them to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Work closely with NEA Regional Offices to review and implement operational programmes pertaining to vector control
  • Carry out budgeting, procurement, and contract management for vector control services and supplies in accordance to protocols.
  • Perform analysis of vector data to depict trends, anticipate situations and devise appropriate interventions
  • Carry out any other duties with regard to Vector Control work, with emphasis on transforming the concept of operations and workforce.

What we are looking for

Requirements:

  • Experience in operations planning and/or enforcement, in a vector control related field, will be an advantage
  • Able to think strategically, plan and apply analytical reasoning in the area of operations management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • A committed team player with good communication/interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
  • Meticulous with an eye for detail
  • Organised and able to multi-task
  • Outgoing and pleasant personality
  • Mature, independent and resourceful
  • Highly self-motivated and always ready to strive for improvement
  • Willing to work after office hours, weekends and public holidays if required
