The Central Regional Office (CRO) is the operational arm of the Environmental Public Health Operations Group, managing diverse environmental public health functions across Singapore’s central regions, including vector control, sanitation, and public feedback management. We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated leadership abilities, critical thinking skills, and strong problem-solving abilities to oversee operations and implement key programmes that maintain high public health standards within their assigned divisions.
What you will be working on
As a Senior Manager / Executive Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
- Effectively lead and manage multi-level teams of officers, consistently motivating personnel whilst upholding rigorous disciplinary standards.
- Manage and supervise teams and service providers in carrying out vector control surveillance and vector control work in prioritised areas to maintain low vector populations (e.g. mosquitoes, rats, and cockroaches), minimise the transmission of vector-borne diseases, and ensure swift resolution during disease outbreaks.
- Manage and supervise the team in assessing trade premises’ refuse management lapses, ensuring good cleanliness and sanitation standards at public places.
- Manage and supervise the team in undertaking necessary response actions (including enforcement) regarding lapses that contravene the Control of Vectors and Pesticides Act (CVPA) 1998, Environmental Public Health Act (EPHA) 1987, and subsidiary legislations.
- Oversee administration of billing procedures and other finance-related matters concerning to vector control services delivered by NEA-appointed service providers.
- Handle complex feedback, media queries, appeals, and investigations regarding vector control matters.
- Collaborate with other departments within NEA, other agencies, and private stakeholders to review and implement effective vector control measures.
- Work closely with other agencies to manage refuse management and vector control nuisance from trade premises.
- Prepare reports and deliver presentations to Senior Management on vector control-related matters.
- Review work processes and practices to enhance effectiveness and productivity.
- Contribute to and support other project work in NEA (e.g. management of workplace safety, representation on various teams and committees)
What we are looking for
The job might be for you if you possess the following qualities:
- Keen interest in environmental public health matters
- 5 to 10 years of working experience, preferably in public health, enforcement, or customer service
- Self-motivated, independent, resourceful, and able to foster teamwork
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Meticulous with an eye for detail
- Good writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Able to work on weekends and after office hours
- Able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment managing multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time
