What the role is

About the EDB Summer Internship Programme
Each summer, EDB welcomes students from diverse academic backgrounds who are passionate about Singapore's economic development and eager to gain real-world experience. Our internship programme offers a unique learning opportunity to understand how strategy and policy come together to shape economic outcomes.

Our 2026 Summer Internship Programme runs from 11 May to 31 July 2026*. The programme includes networking events with our senior leaders and officers to give you behind-the-scenes insights into the organisation and our role in economy and nation building.

*We understand that academic schedules vary, so if these dates do not align with your availability, we still welcome your application. Just include a note in your resume with your preferred 12-week period and we will work to accommodate where possible.

What you will be working on

What the internship entails 

You will be attached to an Industry Group or Planning, Policy & Partnership division where you will work with experienced mentors. Over 12 weeks, you will own and drive your internship project. This could be a new opportunity, challenge or problem statement that your division is working on. To mark the end of your internship, you will present your insights, analysis and recommendations to your division.  

 

Your key responsibilities: 

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis. This could include understanding market dynamics, competitive landscapes, underlying issues and emerging trends for your assigned industry sector or policy area. 

  • Engage key internal and external stakeholders (e.g. MNCs, industry associations, government agencies) to gather firsthand perspectives and validate your research findings. 

  • Collaborate closely with EDB officers to draw insights from their experience, bounce ideas and discuss challenges as you work through your project.  

  • Based on your research and analysis, develop practical recommendations which are actionable and grounded in real market conditions and policy considerations.  

What we are looking for

Who are we looking for? 

We are seeking individuals who are curious, adaptable and eager to contribute to Singapore’s economic development.  

 

To apply, you should be:  

  • A penultimate undergraduate or current master's student at a recognised local or overseas university 

  • Pursuing a degree in any discipline (No, you don’t need to have an economics background. We welcome all backgrounds, including STEM students!) 

  • A Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident 

To succeed, you are:  

  • A resilient problem-solver with the tenacity and resourcefulness to navigate complexity and overcome obstacles 

  • A dynamic team player with the ability to collaborate effectively, communicate with empathy, and build strong relationships 

  • Analytically minded with strong critical-thinking skills  

  • Self-driven and adaptable with high levels of initiative and the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment 

Application Period 
Applications for the EDB Summer Internship 2026 are open from December 2025 to March 2026. Interviews will be conducted from January 2026 onwards.
