What the role is

You will be part of the Maritime Network and Partnerships Office (MNPO) under the MPA Academy Division to support efforts to reinforce Singapore’s role as a Global Hub Port and leading International Maritime Centre. Reporting to the Director, you will lead the strategic planning, curation, and execution of the Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) — MPA’s flagship event and one of the world’s leading maritime shows, that convenes global thought leaders, industry executives, innovators, policymakers, and partners. This role shapes the overall programme narrative, oversees programme officers and the appointed event management vendor to deliver a world-class event that showcases Singapore’s maritime leadership.

What you will be working on

Your main roles and responsibilities include:

  • Lead the strategic planning and programme direction for Singapore Maritime Week; shape a cohesive, forward-looking programme across leadership dialogues, conferences, exhibitions, talent initiatives, and community events.
  • Lead programme design and work with internal divisions to curate high-quality keynotes, panels etc. aligned with maritime priorities such as decarbonisation, digitalisation, and talent development consistent with the overall theme.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for senior stakeholders and partners across government, industry, academic institutions, corporations and international organisations etc.
  • Liaise and coordinate with partners to facilitate their involvement and participation in SMW.
  • Provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders and management and oversee the secretariat functions of the programme office. 
  • Manage and mentor a team of programme officers; oversee event management vendors to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Execute, monitor and control all aspects of SMW and related programmes, including master schedules, strategically utilising resources to achieve the objectives within the agreed timelines, costs and performance expectations.
  • Oversee post-event evaluation and undertake regular review to benchmark SMW against global maritime and business events to ensure continued relevance and thought leadership.

What we are looking for

  • At least 8 to 10 years of work experience in leading major events, conferences, or strategic programmes — ideally at national, regional, or international scale.   
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communications, and copywriting skills
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience managing teams and external vendors.
  • Passion for the maritime sector and eagerness to contribute to Singapore’s role as a global maritime hub.
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and able to thrive in fast-paced environments.
