Assistant Experience Engineer (Digital Fabrication)
What the role is
The Exhibit Maintenance team is looking for a suitable candidateto join the team of engineers and technicians, on a contract basis (renewable), as Assistant Engineer (Digital Fabrication) to ensure that all the exhibits and experiences are operational to the highest level for the enjoyment of our visitors.
What you will be working on
As an Assistant Engineer (Digital Fabrication), you will look after the maintenance and proper functioning of the exhibits and experiences in the Centre. You will be required to carry out the following:
- Timber/plastics fabrication works skillfully.
- Digital prototyping using CAD (computer-aided Design) software.
- Rapid prototyping, addictive and subtractive fabrication of spare parts and components for exhibits, exhibit housing and experiences.
- Operate woodworking machines such as bench saw, planer, routers and stand drill.
- Housekeeping, managing and ensuring proper functioning of wood workshop, equipment and tools.
You will also be required to carry out periodic maintenance, troubleshoot and resolve faults that might arise within the exhibits and experiences, in the Science Centre and KidsSTOP on a rotational schedule with the rest of the Exhibit Maintenance Team.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate should possess any of the following qualifications:
- Diploma in Industrial Design/Product & Industrial Desing or equivalent
- Diploma from Craftsmen Apprenticeship Programme - Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) or
- Carpentry Certification SFIC or
- Construction Technology SFIC or
- Installation Technician Cert SFIC or
- Relevant experience (with details provided in resume).
Knowledge and work experience in machining, mechanical assembly works, electrical and electronic systems would be an advantage.
Other Skills/Abilities
Have a strong interest in taking apart or fixing things, coupled with the ability to handle basic equipment and tools useful in carrying out the duties within the galleries.
Value qualities such as being professional, with initiative, passion, and quality service in all aspects of interaction with both internal and external customers that will make this role even more enjoyable.
Collaborative and able to work as a team with people of different backgrounds and experience.
Driven, passionate and enthusiastic to learn and acquire new skills and knowledge. Comfort in taking directions and mentoring from team members.
Shift Requirements
Rotating 5-day work shifts is a requirement, while duties on weekends and public holidays will be scheduled as and when required.
