Strategic Product & UX Direction
• Lead and manage small to medium-sized cross-functional teams in delivering product initiatives that span multiple domains and stakeholder groups, , ensuring customer-centricity design principles are embedded throughout the product development lifecycle to create intuitive, accessible, and effective digital solutions
• Lead the development of design standards, frameworks, and measurement methodologies that demonstrate design impact
• Establish, track, and deliver on design OKRs and success metrics that drive user adoption, operational impact, and continuous improvement.
• Work with project teams (e.g. chatbot team, website team) and Product Owners to advocate for excellent user experience through intuitive interactions and user-centred design solutions
• Balance strategic thinking with tactical execution whilst developing your team's capabilities and creating opportunities for reports to grow and flourish
Product Development, Delivery & Design Excellence
• Support the Deputy Director in product delivery initiatives by providing design expertise, strategic guidance, and operational oversight across multiple product streams
• Apply design thinking processes to engage stakeholders, develop comprehensive user journeys, build wireframes and prototypes to test and conceptualise digital solutions across the product development lifecycle
• Lead UX research initiatives to understand user needs and translate insights into actionable design recommendations that enhance product usability and effectiveness
• Champion accessibility and inclusive design principles in all product development initiatives
• Coordinate and plan discovery work, including user interviews, workshops, surveys, usability testing, and gathering insights to understand user needs and pain points
• Lead the work to analyse research findings into actionable insights
Community of Practice & Capability Development
• Establish and lead the Design Community of Practice (CoP) framework across ACRA, creating structured learning pathways and knowledge-sharing mechanisms
• Guide ACRA staff to reach defined maturity levels in design thinking, user experience, and product development capabilities through mentoring, training programmes, and hands-on coaching
• Develop and implement design competency frameworks that enable staff progression from basic design awareness to advanced practitioner levels
• Foster a culture of design excellence by facilitating regular CoP sessions, workshops, and cross-departmental collaboration initiatives
Data-Driven Decision Making & Innovation
• Analyse and identify useful insights from data analysis and make strategic recommendations for design improvements and process optimisation
• Research and evaluate emerging design techniques, digital service trends, and technology tools for adoption within ACRA's product ecosystem
• Lead experimentation and A/B testing initiatives to validate design decisions and measure product performance

What we are looking for
Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in industrial design, human-computer interaction (HCI), graphic design, design research or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• At least 8 years of experience in design, with demonstrated success in launching and scaling complex digital products
• Relevant experience in product design or related role such as user experience design, design research or service design
• Proven track record of leading end-to-end design initiatives from discovery through delivery, with measurable impact on user adoption and business outcomes
• Extensive experience in design thinking methodologies and proficiency with prototyping tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Axure, Sketch, InVision, Figma
• Knowledge of design systems, accessibility standards, and modern product development practices
• Proven experience in supporting senior leadership in product delivery initiatives and strategic decision-making
• Strong background in product management principles, agile delivery methodologies, and cross-functional team coordination
• Proven experience in establishing and leading Communities of Practice or similar knowledge-sharing frameworks
• Experience in developing training programmes, competency frameworks, and maturity models for design capabilities
• Experience in project and product management with demonstrated ability to coordinate across multiple teams and domains
• Self-driven, creative traits with strong communication skills and advanced stakeholder engagement abilities
• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to conceptualise complex solutions and drive strategic initiatives
• Ability to work independently whilst fostering collaboration in multi-disciplinary team environments
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present work to executives and large teams
