Design & Planning Lab (DPLab) is a group within URA driving URA’s Urban Planning & Design Technology Centre of Excellence (URBEX) efforts. Our teams with capabilities in software development, geospatial analytics, urban design modelling & simulation, data science, AI / ML, data engineering, data governance and management, work closely with planners, architects, policy makers across various agencies, as well as external partners, to generate insights and develop tools and solutions to tackle Singapore's urban planning challenges. You will be joining the Town Demography team. You will be working in a team of data scientists to build interactive visualisations about historical demographic trends that drive data discovery and the formulation of data-driven insights.

What you will be working on
- Assist with the analysis of demographics and housing trends to identify patterns in population movement
- Build an interactive dashboard to allow urban planners to explore demographic data
- Collaborate with planners to interpret data findings meaningfully in the context of city development
- Create visualisations and presentations to communicate findings effectively
Learning Outcomes
- Gain practical experience in applying data analysis techniques to real-world urban planning challenges
- Develop an understanding of the interaction between population dynamics and URA’s planning strategy considerations
- Build technical skills in data manipulation and analysis techniques
- Develop proficiency in communicating with data by translating complex technical findings into actionable insights for a diverse stakeholder audience
- Cultivate problem-solving and innovative thinking skills
What we are looking for

-Interns who are able to commit between Jan - Aug 2025 for 3-6 months. Full-time internship preferred.
- Undergraduates / Postgraduates pursuing Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Science, Smart City, or other relevant studies
- Familiarity with R or Python.
- Familiarity with basic statistics.
- Interest in the application of data science in urban planning
