Ministry of Finance
[MOF Summer Internship] Intern, Fiscal Policy
Internship
Closing on 31 Dec 2025What the role is
What you will be working on
Project #1: Strengthening Social Mobility
Social mobility is key for Singaporeans to continue to move up over the course of their life. As Singapore’s economy matures, this has become more challenging. In this project, you will research ways that other advanced economies have been able to uplift social mobility and identify potential policy enhancements for Singapore.
Project #2: Portfolio Resourcing
As part of Budget 4.0, FP is reviewing our framework to reallocate resources within and across agencies to more nimbly and better resource emerging priorities on a portfolio basis.
In this project, you will identify and evaluate the key portfolios tracked by other international organisations such as IMF, OECD and compare how Singapore fares against other countries.
Project #3: Alternative Approaches for Augmenting Revenue Forecasting
Fiscal marksmanship is important in enabling Singapore to better plan for and allocate scarce resources among our competing priorities. However, forecasting is an inherently uncertain exercise, especially for sentiment-driven revenue collections that may be more volatile and challenging to comprehensively model.
You will be tasked to:
• Research and propose alternative approaches (including methods and data sources) for revenue forecasting.
• Work with relevant MOF teams, other public sector agencies and external organisations to develop and/or refine the proposed approaches.
Depending on the team’s needs, you may also expect to support and/or gain exposure to the team’s other ongoing work and external engagements.
What we are looking for
• Comfortable with large, complex datasets.
• Good analytical and writing skills.
• Keen interest in policy-making.
