Executive/ Senior Executive, Exhumation Services
What the role is
What you will be working on
1. Procurement and Finance
Review and ensure that all expenses are tracked and properly recorded.
Review and verify claims made by Wareesan and contractors for payments.
Oversee and verify procurement for Workday submissions.
Ensure compliance with MUIS’ policies and government requisition requirements.
Oversee and review processes for tenders, quotations, Small Value Purchases (SVP), and contract management.
2. Weekly Summary Quantity Reports (SQR)
Review, verify, and compile the daily exhumation, crypt, plaque, and tree reports submitted by the exhumation contractor and verified by Wareesan to ensure they comply with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NEA.
3. Monthly Photo Reports (MPR)
Review and verify submitted monthly photo reports as supporting evidence for the above SQR. The monthly reports shall include registration, exhumation (including pre-excavation photos), exhumation completion photos, crypt closure completion photos, and plaque installation photos as evidence for approval and payment purposes.
4. Contract Management
Review and provide input on MOUs, contracts, timelines, and budgets for MUIS’ consideration.
Monitor contract implementation, conduct evaluations, and propose improvements to enhance outcomes.
Review the contractors’ work progress to ensure compliance with NEA and MUIS requirements.
Report any non-compliance by the contractors promptly to MUIS for necessary action.
5. Exhumation Reports
Review and verify the accuracy of exhumation reports before submission to NEA.
Verify and confirm the monthly progress reports submitted by Wareesan and the contractors for claim purposes.
6. Site Briefings and Audits
Support comprehensive site briefings for NEA and ground staff before programme commencement and following the appointment of the exhumation contractor. These briefings include standard operating procedures, risk assessments, and safe work procedures.
Conduct regular site audits to ensure that Wareesan and contractors carry out the exhumation of Muslim graves and reinterment of remains strictly in accordance with Muslim law and NEA's requirements.
Escalate unresolved issues to MUIS promptly for advice and follow-up to ensure resolution.
Ensure that Wareesan and contractors comply with health and safety regulations and procedures at all times.
Follow up with Wareesan and the exhumation contractor to submit incident reports as per the MOU with NEA.
Conduct regular reviews and suggest areas for improvement to systems and processes.
7. Other Duties
Any other duties assigned by MUIS relating to death and burial matters (burial, exhumation and reinterment).
What we are looking for
Education and Experience
· A degree is required, preferably in Finance, Business Management, Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
· At least three to five years' working experience in the service industry or a related field is preferred.
· Knowledge of Islamic traditions and Malay/Muslim cultural practices would be advantageous.
· Knowledge and experience in procurement and finance, contract management, and stakeholder engagement would be beneficial.
9. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
· Excellent organisational and project management skills.
· Strong communication, written, and interpersonal skills.
· Proven customer service experience or related role.
· Empathetic and patient attitude when dealing with customers.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint).
Successful candidate will be appointed on contract basis with our subsidiary, Warees Investments.
