Assistant Manager/Manager (Competition and Consumer Policy)

What the role is

The candidate will be required to assess and analyse IMDA’s regulated markets (telecom, media and post) in relation to competition and consumer policy matters. This will be in support IMDA’s vision to empower the info-communications sector that drives the economy, bonds communities and powers a Smart Nation.

What you will be working on

Background in Economics, Public Policy, Business Administration or Engineering. Other disciplines can be considered.

At least 2 years of work experience in the telecommunications, media and postal sectors, or related sectors.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including presentation skills)

Resourceful, highly-motivated, proactive self-starter with an analytical and creative mind

Result and stakeholder-oriented with multi-tasking capabilities

Independent officer who can work well in a team and be involved in cross-team projects

Policy formulation. Undertake robust and deep analysis of policy and regulatory issues in the telecom, media and post/parcel sectors in the short to medium term, with respect to competition and consumer matters. Obtain multiple perspectives from internal and external stakeholders in order to develop robust and sound policy recommendations. 

Policy implementation. Ensure strong policy implementation of frameworks and regulations for competition and consumer policy matters. Where applicable, enforcement of these frameworks may be required and necessary enforcement action needed. This includes assessment of potential breaches of the Telecommunications and Media Competition Code

Problem-solving and stakeholder management.  Manage and problem-solve cases, including managing stakeholders from various quarters with the public and private sectors

Whole-of-Government Approach. Where required, there will need to be tight coordination and workings with various government agencies and  collaborations to facilitate infrastructure deployment to improve the quality of service experience

What we are looking for
