Brand Strategist (Contract) - School of Design & Media

What the role is

In this position, you will drive the development and execution of brand strategies that engage audiences and deliver business growth. This includes conducting brand audits, market research, competitor benchmarking, and customer journey mapping to generate insights for brand and content strategies.

Working closely with brand strategists in the team, you will help design and facilitate workshops and co-creation sessions, and use Adobe Creative Suite to translate insights into compelling storytelling assets. Experience in Employee Value Proposition (EVP) development and internal branding will be an advantage.

Beyond research and narrative building, you will also support client workshops and industry outreach, nurturing connections and identifying collaboration opportunities.

This role suits a candidate with a strong design background who enjoys using data and insights to shape brand experiences, while gaining exposure to strategy and client engagement.

What you will be working on

  • Conduct brand audits and analysis to measure performance, identify opportunities, and optimise brand strategies.

  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to uncover trends, customer insights, and brand differentiation opportunities.

  • Define the client brand’s unique value proposition, key messages, and positioning.

  • Develop and implement brand strategies and narratives that engage diverse audiences across multiple channels while ensuring alignment with omni-channel marketing objectives.

  • Facilitate brand related workshops and training sessions to help clients and internal teams understand and apply brand strategies effectively.

  • Be involved in business outreach efforts, engaging with industry stakeholders, SMEs, and potential partners to explore collaborative opportunities.

  • Collaborate closely with current team of strategists, and content developers to ensure alignment across messaging, visuals, and channels.

  • Monitor performance and capture feedback to optimise strategies and improve outcomes.

What we are looking for

  • Experience in brand strategy, brand research, or marketing communications, supported by a strong foundation in design or visual communication.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to interpret data and insights to inform brand strategies.

  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops and engage diverse stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with EVP development, internal branding, or organisational culture initiatives is an advantage.

  • Results-oriented and capable of measuring and reporting on the impact of brand strategies.

  • Portfolio demonstrating a proven track record of developing successful branding and marketing strategies.
