Executive Engineer (Tidal Gate, Barrage & Polder Operations)

What the role is

As an Engineer for the Catchment and Waterways Department’s Tidal Gate, Barrage & Polder Operations division, your main roles and responsibilities would include but not limited to:

What you will be working on

• Lead and supervise a team of technical staff to manage day-to-day operations of tidal gates, pumps, sluices and related flood control facilities • Coordinate and respond to emergency situations, including prolonged rainfall, flash floods, pump/gate failures and other operational contingencies • Administer and manage the upkeep of flood control facility infrastructure through contract procurement and site supervision • Work with consultants and vendors on the development of remote operations and centralised control for tidal gates/barrages leveraging on advanced surveillance, analytics, and automation to enhance flood management, operational efficiency and resilience • Coordinate with relevant divisions/departments/agencies on oil spill matters and other emergencies • Track operating and maintenance expenditure • Prepare, implement and ensure compliance with safety procedures, risk assessments and regulatory requirements • Prepare timely operational and incident report, including follow-up actions

What we are looking for

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering fields may also be considered • At least 2-3 years of experience in engineering operations, asset management, infrastructure facilities, or leading technical teams • Able to respond to urgent situations outside normal working hours on short notice and attend weekend/ after-office duties when required • Independent, result-oriented and self-driven team player • Good communication and writing skills. • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
