What you will be working on

The Transport Safety Investigation Bureau of Singapore (TSIB) is the independent investigation authority in Singapore responsible to the Ministry of Transport for the safety investigations of air, marine and rail accidents and incidents. The TSIB is looking for motivated and versatile Singapore citizens with dedication, diligence, patience and perseverance to join us. As a Rail Safety Investigator, you are responsible for carrying out TSIB investigations of accidents and incidents involving rail operations. The investigation tasks include accessing accident/incident site, planning the investigation, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, conducting investigation meetings, reporting on progress of investigation, identifying safety issues, determining the causal or contributing factors, making safety recommendations, and writing clear and robust investigation reports. You will also be involved in or responsible for operational planning, developing investigation procedures, updating investigation legislation, conducting investigation training, organising investigation logistics, procuring investigation equipment, researching into developments in investigation techniques, preparing discussion/policy papers and promoting safety to the rail industry.

What we are looking for

Possess a professional qualification in Engineering and have rail sector related experience. Preference will be given to those with relevant experience at supervisory level and in particular with rail accident/incident investigation experience. You should have an open, inquisitive mind, and be capable of objective, analytical and critical thinking. You need to be a team player and have good interpersonal, communication, leadership and planning skills. You should have an interest in technical matters and safety issues that go beyond your specialty areas. You should be familiar with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software. A reasonable level of IT literacy and understanding of PC architecture would be an added advantage.
