Project Title: Enhancing Urban Operations: User-Centric Interfaces to Support Adoption of Robotics, SCD, SNDG
This internship project offers an exciting opportunity to develop and validate a Proof-of-Concept (PoC) interface to bridge the gap between human operators and robotics.
The focus is on usability, i.e. reducing the cognitive load for facility managers and officers managing deployed smart city assets.

What you will be working on
Project Objectives:
1) User Research: Analyse workflows of ground operations staff to identify friction points in managing autonomous systems.
2) Interface Design: Design a scalable UI/UX that simplifies diagnostic reports into actionable insights.
3) Scalability: Ensure design principles are generic enough to apply to various robot types or sensor networks.
4) Validation: Conduct usability testing to measure efficiency gains in municipal operations.
Expected Deliverables:
1) UX/UI Framework: High-fidelity wireframes and functional prototypes illustrating the remote operations workflow.
2) Usability Report: Pre- and post-testing user metrics to demonstrate improved operational efficiency.
3) Design System: A set of reusable UI assets and guidelines for future robotics deployments.
What we are looking for
• Design Proficiency: Figma, Sketch, or equivalent for rapid prototyping.
• User-Centred Design: Experience in persona creation (including inclusive and accessible designs), workflow mapping, and usability testing.
• Communication: Ability to engage with non-technical stakeholders (e.g., facility managers).
