What the role is

This role offers a unique opportunity to experience how MND transforms Singapore’s Built Environment with our stakeholders, through efforts such as: • Implementation of the Enhancement for Active Seniors (Private Housing) (“EASE (Private)”) scheme to improve the mobility and safety of seniors staying in private properties; • Planning for the Estate Upgrading Programme (EUP) to improve the liveability of private estates; • Developing strategic industry development measures to uplift our built environment sector firms’ productivity and capabilities, to overcome resource constraints and deliver on our national development plans. You will be guided to support the work of two teams in the Infrastructure Division and be exposed to a spectrum of Public Service work functions, including but not limited to: (a) policy research and analysis, (b) intervention design and programme planning, (c) implementation tracking and analysis, (d) public / stakeholder communication and engagement, as well as (e) inter-agency collaboration.

What you will be working on

Depending on the interest and aptitude of the intern, as well as the needs of the Division, the intern could work on some of the following: • Geospatial Analysis & Planning: Conduct geospatial analysis and coordinate cross-agency data collection to support the Estate Upgrading Programme (EUP) Silver Estates initiative. Collaborate with agencies including URA to obtain boundary data, perform spatial mapping and analysis, and develop comprehensive datasets that inform the identification and prioritisation of estates for senior-focused upgrading works. • Programme Planning: Coordinate with multiple government agencies including URA, BCA, NParks, and LTA on various aspects of estate upgrading such as infrastructure improvements, park enhancements, accessibility upgrades and community facility development. • Implementation Tracking & Programme Design: Triaging, consolidating and analysing feedback received, collating programme KPIs and suggesting enhancements to the EASE(Private) programme implementation. • Public / Stakeholder Communications: Assisting with EASE(Private) outreach and communication efforts. • Technology Scanning & Planning: Work with various agencies and stakeholders to identify possible construction technologies that can uplift productivity, analyse barriers to adoption and propose policy interventions to overcome them. • Manpower Planning & Project Prioritisation: Develop Whole-of-Government workflows and dashboards to prioritise, plan and monitor construction manpower demand to ensure that the industry is well supported to deliver on our national development projects productively.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be curious, possess a keen interest in public policy and the Public Service, and have problem-solving, research and communication skills. You should be a team player who can collaborate effectively across different agencies and stakeholders, demonstrate initiative in identifying issues and proposing solutions, and have an interest in improving the Built Environment for Singaporeans. Proficiency in economics, data analysis (e.g. Excel) and/or geospatial tools (such as GIS software) would be advantageous.
