Description of Division: As part of the RPG family, the Protective Service (PSV)/Operations (Ops) Division is dedicated to safeguarding the safety and well-being of individuals vulnerable to abuse, neglect, or exploitation—including children, vulnerable adults, and families affected by domestic violence. We provide statutory interventions and supportive services for those who have been seriously harmed or are at high risk of serious harm, ensuring timely, coordinated responses to meet their needs and uphold their protection. Additionally, PSV/Ops play a key role in facilitating the child adoption process, ensuring the welfare of both the child and adoptive family. PSV/OPS adopts a holistic approach through early intervention, comprehensive assessments, case management, and crisis response. Our team works in close collaboration with social service agencies, healthcare professionals, law enforcement, and community partners to identify risks, develop safety plans and provide ongoing support.

What you will be working on

Brief description of Job Scope: Reporting to the Team Lead, you will be part of a dynamic team of case worker responsible for conducting statutory social investigation and implementing intervention to protect the safety and best interest of individuals, families, children and vulnerable adults (VAs) experiencing violence, abuse or neglect under the Children and Young Persons Act, Vulnerable Adults Act and Women’s Charter. Responsibilities: As a Protective Service Officer, you will: • Identify, investigate and respond to allegations of abuse, neglect and self-neglect. • Attend timely to enquiries, take on assessment and service monitoring for cases come in through different channels (ie. call centre, emails, form etc). • Work with partners to ensure coordinate case management and safety of vulnerable person(s). • Carry out Statutory functions of protection of domestic violence (DV) victims, children/ VAs (e.g. application of court orders and accompanying conditions). • Respond on-site to high-risk cases involving child abuse, domestic violence and vulnerable adults, conduct safety assessment and implement immediate safety planning to ensure their safety, during and after-office hours. • Manage cases of DV victims, children/ VAs which include conducting home and agency visits, engaging person(s) causing harm and carers on case directions, developing reintegration plans, implementing case plans and conducting periodic review of cases. • Involve in development work to support the protection of DV victims, children/VAs. This role involves working 12 hour shifts on a rotating schedule, which includes nights, weekends, and public holidays.

What we are looking for

Requirements: • Background in Social Work or related field in Social Sciences e.g. Psychology, Sociology etc • Good interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to manage difficult and hostile clients • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in the frontline • Is committed to and possesses grit and tenacity in working with vulnerable populations • Proficiency in Chinese dialects, Malay or Tamil or Hindi preferred to liaise with clients • Prior experience in working with DV victims, VAs, children, elderly, or protection work is an advantage • Possesses positive learning attitudes and a growth mindset • Able to do 12-hour shift work including night shift and during public holiday and weekends.
