Assistant Manager/ Manager (Intake and Response- First Responders Team), RPG/OPS

What the role is

The Rehabilitation and Protection Group (RPG) undertakes the statutory functions in the rehabilitation of adult and youth offenders, and the protection of children, families and vulnerable adults (VAs). Our mission is to empower individuals and families to break cycles of abuse, neglect and offending. As part of the RPG family, the Protective Service (PSV) is a statutory service that leads in the policies and processes to safeguard the safety and well-being of children and young person (CYP), families and vulnerable adults experiencing violence, abuse or neglect.

What you will be working on

Brief description of Job Scope: The First Responders Team in PSV attends to high-risk and cases require immediate response. Reporting to the Team Lead/Senior Manager, your role is to undertake crisis case management duties, immediate safety planning and intervention work for high-risk child abuse, domestic violence and vulnerable adults experiencing violence, abuse or neglect cases. You will also support in developing operational processes, policies, systems and training for the team and work closely with the professional partners to ensure an effective protection system for them. Responsibilities: As a First Responder, you will: • Carry out statutory functions under the Children and Young Person Act, Women’s Charter and Vulnerable Adults Act in the protection of child abuse, domestic violence and vulnerable adults cases such as conducting on-site response to emergency cases, issuance of Protector Power/ Emergency Order to ensure safety etc. • Respond on-site to high-risk cases involving child abuse, domestic violence and vulnerable adults, conduct safety assessment and implement immediate safety planning to ensure their safety, during and after-office hours; • Collaborate closely with the professional partners to ensure coordinated case management for the safety of the children, domestic violence survivors, vulnerable adults and their families; • Develop and implement operational processes and policies to guide the team’s operations; • Work closely with the planning team to identify key competencies and trainings for the team; and • Identify and engage key professionals to collaborate and build up interface to facilitate a smooth service delivery.

What we are looking for

Requirements: • Background in Social Work, Psychology or related discipline (i.e. Sociology) from an accredited institution • Prior experience in working in child protection, domestic violence and/or vulnerable families is an advantage • Good interpersonal and communication skills • Good assessment, problem solving and multi-tasking skills • Empathetic with high level of emotional resilience and ability to work calmly in stressful situations and environment • Tenacious and nimble in handling difficult clients and/or situations • Enjoy teamwork and able to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment • Basic understanding of the local social service sector • Proficiency in Chinese dialects, Malay, Tamil or Hindi is an advantage • Able to do 12-hour shift work
