What the role is

We are seeking a research assistant to support a research project aimed at developing new sustainable and economically feasible soil mixes using sustainable alternative(s) to sand. Key responsibilities include carrying out research trials at controlled and field conditions, performing laboratory analysis and data analysis, such as life cycle assessment and economic feasibility analysis, as well as coordinating with agency officers and contractors. Additionally, the staff will have the opportunity to be involved in various activities to facilitate R&D planning, collaboration, and administration in NParks.

We are seeking a research assistant to support a research project aimed at developing new sustainable and economically feasible soil mixes using sustainable alternative(s) to sand. Key responsibilities include carrying out research trials at controlled and field conditions, performing laboratory analysis and data analysis, such as life cycle assessment and economic feasibility analysis, as well as coordinating with agency officers and contractors. Additionally, the staff will have the opportunity to be involved in various activities to facilitate R&D planning, collaboration, and administration in NParks.
  
[What you will be working on] 


 Research Project Execution:
•    Work closely with researchers to conduct the research project
•    Carry out controlled and field experiment set up, maintenance and monitoring
•    Undertake data collection, entry, and analysis
•    Perform laboratory diagnostics
•    Perform life cycle assessment and economic analysis
•    Assist with project related admin matters, including liaising with agency officers, maintenance contractors and vendors
•    Assist with audits and follow up on audit findings and recommendations

What we are looking for


•    Areas of study in Horticulture, Life Sciences, Environmental Management, or related disciplines
•    Prior experience in the following areas will be an advantage:
- Field data collection and laboratory analysis
- Knowledge of relevant research methods and techniques
- Project management – relevant to life science, horticulture/botany, landscaping, and environmental science
- Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA)
•    Able to work outdoor under field conditions
•    Possess good writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
•    A meticulous, resourceful, and self-driven team player who can work independently (both desktop & outdoor) and multi-task to meet deadlines
•    Has good computer proficiency, especially Microsoft Office Applications (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Successful candidates will be offered a 11-month employment contract
