What the role is

The Community Relations & Engagement Division develops policies and programmes that strengthen social cohesion in our multi-racial, multi-religious society, contributing to building a caring, cohesive and confident Singapore. This is an internship role with the Community Relations policy team that looks at Malay/Muslim (MM) affairs. In this role, you will get to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, such as government agencies, self-help groups, and other community partners, to tackle socio-religious and socio-economic challenges to enable the Malay/Muslim community in Singapore to practise their faith with confidence and improve their social mobility.

What you will be working on

The intern will have the opportunity to be involved in one or more of the following projects: 1. Review of the role of madrasahs in the national education landscape and how Government can better support the madrasahs. 2. Public consultation for legislative amendments to the Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA), including synthesising public feedback gathered 3. Implementation of a pilot between selected primary schools and Yayasan MENDAKI (Council for the Development of the Singapore Malay/Muslim Community) to improve the school attendance and participation of at-risk students within the community 4. Develop partnerships between government agencies and community organisations to encourage greater female Malay/Muslim participation in the workforce and help Malay/Muslim youths secure good jobs, including pivoting into growth sectors of the economy.

What we are looking for

• Keen interest in public policy and topics related to community development, social mobility • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with community partners, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and ability to align partnerships with organisational goals • Able to write well and communicate clearly • Able to balance ideals with on-the-ground realities when implementing projects Application Details: We are seeking interns who can commit on a part/full-time basis for a max of 3 months any period from Jan 2026 to Oct 2026 To apply: • Please submit your CV/ resume • Indicate your internship availability period
