What the role is

The internship provides hands-on experience working with administrative datasets in a government setting, where you will contribute to data analytics and research that inform policy and operational decisions for Syariah Court and Registry of Muslim Marriages.

What you will be working on

You will work with an immediate supervisor and gain first-hand experience in cleaning, verifying, managing and analysing data on Muslim marriages and divorces. Your work will support the annual trends reporting on marriages and divorces, as well as various research initiatives, programmes and operational requirements for the Syariah Court and Registry of Muslim Marriages. You will develop proficiency in research methodologies, statistical analysis techniques, and data quality assurance processes, and learn to prepare findings for both technical and non-technical audiences using data visualisation tools.

What we are looking for

We seek candidates who are eager to apply their academic knowledge to meaningful public service projects. You should have a strong interest in data analytics, research methodologies, and social research, with the ability to work carefully with sensitive administrative data. We value attention to detail, analytical thinking, good writing and presentation skills, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. We also look for enthusiasm to learn how research and data supports evidence-based decision making in government operations. Students pursuing studies in Statistics, Data Science, Social Sciences, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Relevant coursework in quantitative methods, research methodology, or data analysis would be advantageous.
