At Charities Unit, our vision is to develop a well-governed and thriving charity sector with strong public support. We aim to facilitate self-regulation within the charity sector to maintain public confidence and support, while having sufficient consideration to the realities and differences charities and IPCs may face.
Our Strategy
• Ensuring regulatory compliance of charities and IPCs
• Promoting good governance and best practices amongst charities and IPCs
• Becoming a proactive and pre-emptive charity advisory
Our Work
• Undertaking enforcement action on errant charities
• Conducting field visits to charities and IPCs
• Providing secretariat support to the Charity Council to promote good governance and best practices in the charity sector
• Developing and reviewing policies to develop the charity sector
The intern will play a key role in supporting two important initiatives within the charity sector:
1. Review of the Charities Capabilities Fund – To assess and enhance the support provided through the Charities Capabilities Fund (CCF), aim at strengthening the operational efficiency and governance capabilities of the charities.
2. Charity Transparency and Governance Award – Assisting in the coordination and development of the Charity Transparency and Governance Awards, which recognises charities’ efforts in governance and transparency.

What you will be working on
The intern will support the following tasks:
1. For the Charities Capabilities Fund Review:
o Conduct research on the effectiveness and impact of existing grants.
o Assist in stakeholder consultations and surveys and collate findings.
o Analyze data and present findings to improve the fund’s offerings.
o Help draft reports and recommendations for improvements.
2. For the Charity Transparency and Governance Award:
o Assist in the coordination of the award nomination process.
o Help organize engagement sessions with charities to increase participation for the awards.
What we are looking for
We are looking for an intern who:
• Is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to multi-tasks.
• Has an interest in the charity sector and/or public sector work.
• Possesses strong research, writing, and communication skills.
• Is comfortable working with data and analysing information.
• Is open to collaborating and engaging with multiple stakeholders and partners, either in-person or online.
