What the role is

The Government Partnerships & Engagement Group (GPEG) contributes to the development of a collaborative government that galvanises partnerships and engagement (PE) with citizens for a better Singapore. It does this through the development of public sector capabilities in partnerships and engagement, external partnerships and the design and organisation of Whole-of-Government (WOG) PE initiatives. Within GPEG, the Planning and Development team drives WOG public sector PE strategies and initiatives, develops organisational PE capacity, and enhances the PE capabilities of public officers. This internship project aims to research and evaluate digital and non-digital tools, platforms and models that could enable citizen participation in policy and programme design and implementation. Through this, interns will gain a deeper understanding of GPEG’s work in building participative governance, learn about participative governance tools and models, and gain skills in research, analysis, communication and pilot implementation.

What you will be working on

1. Conduct comprehensive desktop research on participative governance practices internationally, from models like the permanent Citizens’ Assembly in Paris, to digital tools like online participatory budgeting tools. 2. Evaluate, develop recommendations and identify potential use cases for deploying such tools or models in Singapore. 3. Document findings in a structured report and/or presentation deck. 4. (If internship is longer than 1 month) Design and execute a pilot sandbox project to test out a selected tool or platform.

• Keen interest in public policy, citizen engagement, and participative governance • Able to write well and communicate clearly • (If internship is longer than 1 month) Experience in building tech tools or platforms to develop a pilot project Application Details: We are seeking interns who can commit on a full-time basis.
