What the role is

The Registry of Co-operative Societies and Mutual Benefit Organisations (RCS/RMBO) oversees the regulatory framework for co-operative societies (co-ops) and mutual benefit organisations (MBOs), with the primary objective of protecting members' interests and promoting confidence in these sectors. This role contributes to building a robust regulatory environment for our co-ops and MBOs and enhancing their contributions and social missions to building a caring and cohesive society. The intern will play a key role in supporting two important initiatives within the co-op sector: a. Ten-year Transformation Roadmap – To work closely with the Singapore National Co-operative Federation (“SNCF”), the co-operative industry body, on the development and implementation of the various initiatives under the Transformation Roadmap. b. Review and develop policies for co-ops and MBOs through research on sector developments and best practices, while providing recommendations for new or revised policies.

What you will be working on

What will you be working on The intern will support the following tasks: a. Ten-year Transformation Roadmap: • Work closely with SNCF on the development and implementation of the initiatives under the Transformation Roadmap. This includes tracking progress of funded projects by collecting updates and verifying deliverables. • Support the development of presentation decks and meeting materials on roadmap progress or new initiatives. b. Policy reviews: The intern will assist in the reviews of policies and legislation by researching comparative regulations in Singapore (e.g. for companies, banks) and overseas jurisdictions (e.g. UK, US, Australia etc). The areas of review may include the provision of deposit guarantee or collation of loans data for credit co-ops. The intern will then assess whether Singapore’s legislative coverage is adequate for the identified areas and make recommendations on possible amendments or refinements.

What we are looking for We are looking for an intern who: • Is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to multi-tasks. • Has an interest in the co-op sector and/or public sector work. • Possesses strong research, writing, and communication skills. • Is comfortable working with data and analysing information. • Is open to collaborating and engaging with multiple stakeholders and partners, either in-person or online.
