Intern, Research on international major sporting events in comparison to Singapo

What the role is

Sports Division (SD) works alongside our partners Sport Singapore (SportSG), Singapore Sports School, National Youth Sports Institute (NYSI), Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) and Singapore National Paralympic Council (SNPC) to develop and implement policies and programmes that support the sporting aspirations of Singaporeans. You will be part of the Sports Sector Development (SPD) team which plays a key role in facilitating sport participation through programmes and building an inclusive society through sports. Such initiatives include GetActive! Singapore initiatives under the Disability Sports Masterplan, and sporting events that encourage a culture of sports participation, spectatorship to build a vibrant sporting culture in Singapore.

What you will be working on

You will support the team in various workstreams and gain exposure to policy and operational work, which includes: • Conducting a literature scan of how other countries attract and anchor major sporting events; • Observing and studying sports programmes for persons with disabilities, to understand how they are currently run in the community and assess how they can be improved; and • Supporting the team in implementing the Disability Sports Masterplan strategic moves such as the setting up of Para Sports Community Hubs.

What we are looking for

• A motivated team-player with strong writing and communication skills. • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and interact with stakeholders. • Interest in the Sports sector is an advantage.
