The intern will join the MCCY Youth Division (YD) which formulates and oversees policy moves and engagement strategies for youth (ages 15–35) development in Singapore, such as the SG Youth Plan.
The intern will work on two workstreams:
1. Youth Civic Participation
The Youth Civic Participation workstream covers youths’ contributing their ideas, growing their civic engagement muscles through deliberating with fellow citizens, and co-creating policy with Government, such as through Youth Panels. This workstream is at the forefront of shaping the future of civic participation in Singapore.
2. Mentoring
The Mentoring workstream covers scaling up mentoring opportunities for youths nationwide and building a culture of mentoring, such as through the Mentoring SG movement. This workstream aims to build a network of mentors to inspire and open doors for the next generation of youths.

What you will be working on
• Conducting research to identify youths’ attitudes towards civic participation, culminating in a research report.
• Support the planning and development of initiatives to engage youth civic groups.
• Assist with the planning, coordination and design for the Youth Panels.
• Support the planning and strategy development for the next phase of the Mentoring SG movement.
• Contribute to the development of processes and instruments to better evaluate the outcomes of the Mentoring SG movement.

• Strong interest in youth development, mentoring, youth civic engagement, and supporting youths through school to work transitions.
• Concern about what the social compact may look like for the next generation
• Strong critical thinking, research, analysis and synthesis skills
• Effective inter-personal communication skills, orally and in writing
• Being resourceful, proactive, independent and creative
• Strong inter-personal skills and situational awareness: the ability to operate in different contexts and with diverse people
• Willingness to learn about evaluation frameworks and impact measurement.
