What the role is

The intern will join the MCCY Youth Division (YD) which formulates and oversees policy moves and engagement strategies for youth (ages 15–35) development in Singapore, such as the SG Youth Plan. The intern will work on two workstreams: 1. Developing Youth Community Building and Engagement Capabilities The intern will support research on youth engagement and community-building approaches, and capability development for youth community builders by researching international best practices, supporting policy development, and assisting with the planning and implementation of stakeholder engagements. 2. Youth Social Connections The intern will also have the opportunity to work on developing policies and initiatives to encourage youths to form stronger, more diverse social connections.

What you will be working on

• A research report on international approaches to enabling youths to form stronger social connections, including studying youth outreach work models and initiatives. • Support research on capability development approaches for youth engagement and community building skills. • Support documentation and evaluation of community-based youth engagement initiatives. • Assist in developing communications materials and organising engagement sessions with sector partners. • Contribute to the development of training resources for youth community building. • Assist in tracking and analysing outcomes for youth engagement initiatives, including participation rates, social connection outcomes, and youth-led activities.

What we are looking for

• Strong interest in youth development, community building, social policy, and enabling youths to form stronger, more diverse social connections. • Strong critical thinking, research, analysis and synthesis skills. • Effective inter-personal communication skills, orally and in writing. • Strong inter-personal skills and situational awareness: the ability to operate in different contexts and with diverse people. • Being resourceful, proactive, independent and creative. • Willingness to learn about evaluation frameworks and impact measurement.
