Manager to Senior Manager, Strategic Planning
What the role is
As custodian of the corporate planning cycle, SP drives the direction and interfaces with internal business units to develop short to mid-term workplans. SP also develops, reviews and tracks organisational performance to ensure alignment with STB's strategic outcomes and importantly, works with senior management to define STB's and the tourism industry’s aspirations and goals.
What you will be working on
1. Lead the development of SP’s Strategic Backlog (SB) exercise to identify the most impactful workplans (across near to long term) across all Groups to ensure that we can ladder up to meet our long term ambition in T2040. As part of this workstream, the officer will also play a critical role in flagging potential gaps and challenges to Senior Management, propose solutions to close these gaps and work with Finance to steward resources to ensure that these workplans are prioritised, and will be on track to be delivered.
2. Work as a team to drive longer term planning to identify trends, blind spots, competition/threats and/or new opportunities, which could potentially impact or propel the future of Singapore tourism. The officer will work with the team to develop AI projects which will help us identify key trends, analyse how these would impact Singapore tourism. The officer will be involved in developing the annual Forward Planning workshop with STB EXCO and insights from the workshop would be further distilled and incorporated into potential workplans with relevant Groups.
3. Review our existing data collection methodologies for computing Tourism Receipts. This workstream will require the officer to work with STB’s Analytics and Intelligence (A&I) team, other internal line units as well as industry partners.
4. Work with MTI, STB’s Analytics and Intelligence (A&I) and our economic analyst on our overall impact analysis on key policy changes or international developments (eg: competition from key developments in the region). This requires the officer to develop an overall STB position based on (a) an economic impact analysis including potential impact to the tourism sector and the overall economy, (b) collating relevant inputs from other Line Units, Regional Offices within STB and other government agencies and (c) propose potential interventions to mitigate risks.
5. In addition, officer will be part of the team to manage the following key workplans:
Prepare quarterly updates on key performance indicators, industry outlook, etc to MTI.
Work with MTI to manage key reporting platforms and updates for MTI senior management, as well as discussions on STB’s KPIs and priorities.
Organise annual corporate planning cycles for STB senior management and business units to formulate their workplans to ensure alignment across teams.

Within STB, you will be able to engage across all business teams and develop a keen understanding of the tourism landscape and its operating environment. You will also work closely with MTI and other government agencies, where you would be able to learn more about the work of other economic agencies and how their work is integrated to further Singapore's economic development.
What we are looking for
Good analytical, verbal and written communication skills. Officer must be able to think strategically, be able to connect the dots, analyse data sets and function independently.
An economics background will be beneficial. Familiarity with the tourism sector and/or strategic planning will be advantageous.
