Design & Planning Lab (DPLab) is a group within URA driving URA’s Urban Planning & Design Technology Centre of Excellence (URBEX) efforts. Our teams with capabilities in software development, geospatial analytics, urban design modelling & simulation, data science, AI / ML, data engineering, data governance and management, work closely with planners, architects, policy makers across various agencies, as well as external partners, to generate insights and develop tools and solutions to tackle Singapore's urban planning challenges. You will be joining the Urban Analytics team, focusing on Procedural (Parametric) Modelling. You will be working with a team of data scientists and planners to improve our internal procedural modelling tools.

What you will be working on
- Conduct in-depth case studies on residential building typology from the last 50 years to validate parameters used in our tools and support further data analysis.
- Conduct island-wide benchmarking studies using parametric tools to measure the differences between simulated and as-built buildings.
- Prototype a prediction model to fine-tune simulated results for longer-term planning.
- Create effective presentations for communicating insights to a diverse group of stakeholders.
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of building typologies through quantitative analysis, while also gaining valuable exposure to professional urban planning experience.
- Gain an understanding of research methodologies by exploring data gathering techniques, analytical methods, interpretation of results, and the discussion of findings.
- Gain experience in training and applying predictions models for the purposes of long-term urban planning.
What we are looking for
Internship Period: Full-time internship between April - July 2026. To facilitate the hiring process, please state your availability, including specific start and end date in your resume or application form.
- Undergraduates / Postgraduates pursuing Architecture / Urban Science / GIS / related fields.
- Familiarity with CAD software, Python, Grasshopper
