What the role is

Project Title: National strategy for climate resilience & regional adaptation The Strategy Team in the National Climate Change Secretariat is seeking interns to assist with national climate change risk assessments (including transboundary climate risks), and explore how regional climate adaptation efforts can be scaled up. This role is pivotal in understanding the multifaceted impacts of climate change, including socioeconomic, geopolitical, economic, and infrastructure challenges. OR Project Title: Climate Change Central Outlook (2H2026) The Strategy Team in the National Climate Change Secretariat is seeking a highly motivated and analytical intern to join our team in developing the Climate Central Outlook, a pivotal project that helps the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Climate Change identify and assess international climate-related trends and developments that could impact Singapore's climate strategies. These trends span multiple domains, including: climate ambition of countries, global energy landscape, climate tech developments, and green economy. The intern will play a crucial role in scanning authoritative reports, synthesising stakeholder views, and extracting insights from various sources. The research conducted will contribute to a comprehensive set of implications, guiding strategic direction and resource allocation for Singapore's government agencies in the upcoming year.

What you will be working on

Project Title: National strategy for climate resilience & regional adaptation Key Responsibilities - Conduct thorough literature reviews and synthesise findings to support the development of a comprehensive, long-term national strategy for climate resilience. - Support the team in crafting a long-term view of climate adaptation, informing government strategies for resource allocation and priority setting. - Assess Singapore’s exposure to transboundary climate risks - Support development of partnership framework with people and private sector stakeholders to support regional climate adaptation and financing OR Project Title: Climate Change Central Outlook (2H2026) Key Responsibilities: • Scan and analyse authoritative reports to identify international climate-related trends and developments. • Synthesise stakeholder views to assess potential impacts on Singapore's decarbonisation strategies. • Extract and compile insights from various news sources to inform policy decisions. • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive set of implications for strategic direction and resource allocation. • Support the team in strategic planning and policy development for Singapore's government agencies.

What we are looking for

Requirements for project: • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex data and extract relevant information. • Research Proficiency: Skilled at conducting thorough research using various authoritative sources such as IEA and IPCC reports. • Critical Thinking: Capable of evaluating the implications of climate-related trends on Singapore's policies. • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate findings clearly. • Stakeholder Engagement: Comfortable incorporating views from multiple agency stakeholders. • Adaptability: Able to navigate through evolving economic and energy objectives. • Attention to Detail: Vigilance in ensuring all information is accurate and well-presented. • Proactive Learning: Eagerness to stay updated with the latest developments in climate-related fields. • Team Collaboration: Willingness to work collaboratively within a team environment. Interns should be able to commit on a part-time basis during term time (~28 hours per week on hybrid basis; flexi hours) and full-time during vacation breaks.
