What the role is
We are seeking a dynamic Manager, Systems & Communication in the Education Services department, responsible for leading a team that markets centre-wide programmes to schools, including development of the programmes listing and the school programmes content for website and catalogue, management of the online school booking system, support of digitalisation initiatives at the Science Centre and development of novel methods of programming and delivery.
What you will be working on
As a Manager, Systems & Communication, your responsibilities include the following:
Management of Staff to Achieve Departmental Targets
You will lead and guide a team to ensure the successful execution of key projects. You will mentor staff, delegate tasks, and oversee the development of their skills to improve their work performance. Your responsibilities will include managing staff schedules, appraisals, training, and administrative matters.
Supporting Divisional/Centre Targets
You will work closely with the team to promote Science Centre-wide educational programmes to schools. This involves developing comprehensive programme listings and ensuring that content on our website and catalogues is accurate and engaging. You will also support ongoing digitalisation initiatives, particularly in relation to education and exhibition resources.
Online Booking System and Education Programmes Data Management
You will be the officer in charge of the online booking system, ensuring smooth operation and addressing any issues related to system downtime. You will conduct data integrity checks, develop analytical tools for booking data, and run regular analyses on the effective utilisation of resources (staff, labs, etc.).
Contribute to Quality Programming
You will play an active role in coordinating promotional activities for schools and developing new programming methods. This includes exploring innovative ways to present educational content to teachers and students, using technology such as apps, e-learning, and augmented reality to enhance learning experiences.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate should possess a Degree in a STEM-related discipline or its equivalent, providing the foundational knowledge necessary for this technical role. Programming and IT skills are essential requirements, with demonstrated proficiency in running analytics and managing systems effectively.
Strong people management experience is crucial, encompassing the ability to lead teams successfully, mentor staff members, and drive performance across the organisation.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are required to interact effectively with vendors, teachers, and other key stakeholders throughout various projects and initiatives.
