You will be part of a team of officers responsible for the processing of licence applications for food establishments, assess submitted proposal based on food safety considerations, conduct pre-licensing check of the premises to verify the layout and set up are in accordance to licensing requirements, and recommend granting of licence when all the licensing requirements are met.

What you will be working on
- Assess the food establishment licence applications, which includes:
- Conducting site assessment
- Evaluating the architectural layout plan, process flows and particulars of products
- Verification checks at the premises and make recommendations whether to grant a SFA licence to the applicant
- Provide guidance to applicants on interpretation of the licensing requirements.
- Attend to public enquiries on licensing-related matters.
- Work with relevant agencies and engage them on issues related to licensing of food establishments
- Participate in the review of work processes and standard operating procedures pertaining to licensing of food establishments.
- Preparation of licensing reports and provide data analysis to suss out issues that could potentially affect our effectiveness and service delivery to the licence applicants.
- Be involved in initiatives, projects and assignments that are directly or indirectly related to core duties and/or personal development.
What we are looking for
- Preferably possess a recognised Polytechnic Diploma in Food Technology/Food Science/ Biology/Biotechnology or other Science-related discipline.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and taking initiative.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good team player with well-rounded interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders in the public and private sector.
- Willing to work outside office hours on occasion.
- Candidates with previous working experience in the food industry will have an added advantage, but not necessary.

About Singapore Food Agency
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is a new Statutory Board formed under the ‘Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) to oversee food safety and security. The SFA will serve as the single point of contact for public feedback on food-related issues, and strengthen management of foodborne disease outbreaks to protect public health.
The SFA will also facilitate more business-friendly regulations with oversight of all food safety policies and consolidation of food laboratory capabilities to deepen competencies in food diagnostics, and research and development in food safety.
