What the role is

The National Library Board (NLB) nurtures Readers for Life, Learning Communities and a Knowledgeable Nation by promoting reading, learning and history through our network of 28 libraries across Singapore, the National Library and the National Archives of Singapore.

• An opportunity to Innovate and Push Boundaries. We value ideas, curiosity and a passion for innovation to transform our libraries and archives.
An organisation that Cares for your Growth and Wellbeing through investment in staff development and wellbeing in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Today, more than half of memory institutions worldwide lack a comprehensive Disaster Risk Management (DRM) plan. This concerning situation is often due to a persisting gap in skills and resources. The lack of disaster preparedness and the accumulation of related challenges pose a threat to the preservation of unique records and their accessibility, particularly in the most vulnerable contexts.

In response to this concerning situation, UNESCO has produced a Training Toolkit covering a range of essential themes in relation to DRM for documentary heritage and digital collections, with the intention of supporting institutions who may be seeking to address this critically important subject.

The National Archives of Singapore, having contributed to this Training Toolkit, will conduct specialised area of training for ASEAN Member States (AMS), as part of capacity building. We will hold a 3-day workshop on collections risk assessment and management, handling and identifying health hazards.

As an Archives Conservation Lab Intern under the National Archives of Singapore, you will help in the planning and execution of this workshop, working closely with conservators from the National Archives of Singapore.

What you will be working on

  • Coordinate travel and accommodation arrangements for international participants
  • Track and manage logistics (venues, schedules, materials, catering, transport)
  • Assist with paperwork and documentation (participant details, forms, procurement)
  • Support the development of workshop materials and communications (emails, briefs, agendas, notes)
  • Contribute ideas for participant engagement, programme flow and workshop experience
  • Liaise with internal teams, vendors and international participants across time zones

What we are looking for

  • Open to students from all disciplines; students with a background in Integrated Events & Project Management, MICE and Events Management, Arts Business Management as well as Design and Media are particularly encouraged to apply.

Duration: 6 months
