What the role is

The Statistical Best Practices (SBP) 2020 handbook published by the Singapore Department of Statistics (DOS) aims to provide the best practices on statistical processes to improve the quality of data produced across the whole-of-government (WOG) in Singapore, so as to instill trust and confidence in the data among the public and policy-makers. ​​The Data Management Assessment Tool (DataMAT) is a self-assessment tool to enable agencies to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the various processes of their statistical activities against the best practices for compliance from the SBP handbook.

What you will be working on

The intern will be part of our team to assist in researching international guidelines and frameworks, developing national statistical standards to prepare the ground work for the next SBP Handbook review. The intern will also be tasked to conduct the DataMAT exercise which will require him/her to liaise with internal DOS officers from other divisions and external agencies. Internationally, there is a growing emphasis on measuring the economic, environmental and social dimensions of well-being and sustainability. The intern may also be involved to assist in ad-hoc work relating to well-being and sustainability.

What we are looking for

Good research, communication and numerical skills Proficient in MS-Excel Experience building interactive dashboards and reports in Tableau would be helpful/preferred Opened to Undergraduates and polytechnic students Internship Duration : May-Jul 2026
