What you will be working on

1. Translate communications materials for national initiatives • Translate a diverse range of government communications materials that support national initiatives • Ensure translations are accurate, culturally appropriate and convey the intended tone and meaning of the original message • Gain exposure to translation workflows and review processes in government communications 2. Translate vernacular opinion pieces • Translate and summarise selected vernacular opinion pieces to English for Whole-of-Government daily newsletter 3. Any other duties related to departmental needs, including administrative or project support tasks* *Interns will also be assigned to one or two project teams based on their aptitude to gain exposure to different parts of Translation Department’s work. These may include any combination of the following:  Translation Technology Projects • Tech Team A: To support the department’s research on emerging translation technologies and prepare bilingual terminology databases to train machine translation engines  • Tech Team B: To support the maintenance, development, and/or publicising of the SG Translate (SGT) MT engine, SG Translate Together (SGTT) web portal, and the Government Terms Translated (GTT) repository Publicity and Engagement Projects • Citizen Translators Project: To support volunteer management and engagement efforts under the Citizen Translators (CTs) initiative • National Translation Committee (NTC): To support the organisation of the biennual conference and publicity campaign • Translation Industry Workgroup: To support the workgroup in organising focus group discussions and conduct research on the translation industry

What we are looking for
