What the role is

As a Statistician in the Household Surveys and Expenditure Statistics Division, you will be part of a team responsible for planning and implementing national level household-based surveys such as the Household Expenditure Survey (HES) to collect and disseminate latest information on the population and households.

What you will be working on

You will be involved in: • Developing and testing systems to support the survey process, • Reviewing data collection strategies, data sources and resource requirements in planning and implementing household-based surveys, • Supervising teams in data collection and/or processing during survey operations, • Planning and managing support activities to facilitate smooth delivery of the survey experience including publicity, manpower and logistics and respondent relations, • Leveraging technology to continually optimise statistical processes, including data collection, editing, imputation and estimation, and report generation; and • Analysing data and communicating findings via various dissemination channels, including reports, visualisations and interactive dashboards, to meet the needs of different user groups in the Government, research community, businesses and the general public.

What we are looking for

• Knowledge or experience in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Accountancy, Actuarial Science or subjects with substantial quantitative content • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to learn and apply relevant statistical and analytical tools and techniques • Good organisational skills and the ability to multi-task • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team Development Opportunities and Benefits: • DOS believes in the career development and training of our staff to bring out their best potential at work • You will be equipped with skills and subject matter know-how via in-house and external learning and development opportunities.
