What the role is

The International Cooperation & Trade Partnerships Division formulates and drives SFA's interests through international cooperation on agri-food issues, including at bilateral and international platforms. It also promotes food trade and facilitates market access through trade partnerships to drive import diversification and export facilitation.

What you will be working on

Are you passionate about global food security and trade diplomacy? The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is looking for a dynamic and self-motivated professional to join our International Cooperation & Trade Partnerships Division. In this role, you will be at the forefront of food trade diplomacy, developing strategic relationships and nurturing partnerships with global trading partners to secure Singapore's food future.

As part of our team, you will drive SFA’s interests through international cooperation on agri-food issues across bilateral and international organisations and platforms. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Diplomacy & Policy: Formulate strategies and policy positions on international cooperation to support SFA’s mission. You will strategise, advocate and advance Singapore’s interests in food-related issues at regional/international organisations and platforms
  • Market Access & Trade Facilitation: Work with foreign regulators to open new markets for Singapore’s food exporters while diversifying import sources to reduce supply chain vulnerabilities
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong rapport with foreign counterparts, government agencies, and industry stakeholders. You will facilitate meetings for foreign VIPs and attend regional and international meetings to deepen cooperation
  • Industry Engagement: Act as a key point of contact for industry associations regarding food security, overseas imports and exports. You will also identify opportunities by organizing business matching missions to help diversify Singapore’s food sources

What we are looking for

We are looking for an analytical and adaptable individual who thrives in a collaborative environment.

  • University degree, preferably with at least 1-2 years of work experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Analytical, self-motivated, result-oriented and dynamic. Able to thrive under pressure and work independently and within a team.
  • Keen interest in current and international affairs including trade policies, climate change, and geopolitical events.
  • Keen sense of observation and business opportunity instincts.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Frequent overseas travel is required.

About Singapore Food Agency

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is a new Statutory Board formed under the ‘Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) to oversee food safety and security. The SFA will serve as the single point of contact for public feedback on food-related issues, and strengthen management of foodborne disease outbreaks to protect public health. The SFA will also facilitate more business-friendly regulations with oversight of all food safety policies and consolidation of food laboratory capabilities to deepen competencies in food diagnostics, and research and development in food safety.
