What the role is

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

The Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) - Capability Development traineeship provides hands-on experience in capability development within a newly established statutory board under Ministry of Health (MOH). You will be supporting the Operations Division in CDA.

As part of the Operations team, you will support the Assistant Director, Operations on the capability development to simplify and/or enhance the operational work processes.

You will also build competencies in navigating organisational processes, working with internal and external stakeholders, and translating data into insights and initiatives that support employee engagement efforts.

What you will be working on

As part of Operations team in CDA, your key responsibilities include the following:

Design, develop, and implement IT projects aimed at enhancing existing work processes and operational efficiency. Collaborate extensively with diverse stakeholders to identify desired outcomes, assess current process gaps, and define project requirements and success metrics
Research and evaluate emerging digital technologies and tools to streamline work processes, improve productivity, and deliver innovative solutions that align with organisational objectives and user needs

You may also be asked to support other ad-hoc duties related to the project or team operations, as needed.

What we are looking for

Job Requirements

Fresh graduate who has completed studies, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science or related technical field
Interest in capability development
Detail-oriented and good written communication
Comfortable with using digital tools and platforms
Familiarity with dashboards or survey tools is a plus
Basic Excel skills may be useful for ad-hoc reporting, though not essential
Presentation skills, as Trainee will have opportunities to present to Management
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including grasp of data analysis techniques and methodologies
Self-motivated and independent worker with the ability to multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced environments whilst delivering quality results under pressure and tight deadlines.
Ability to seek continual improvements, and to innovate and experiment while managing the risks involved.

Key Competencies Required

Thinking Clearly & Making Sound Judgements – Able to assess staff queries, identify issues, and escalate appropriately during the survey period.
Learning & Putting Skills into Action – Open to learning new tools (e.g. dashboards, survey platforms) and apply them to support project delivery.

Working Effectively with Stakeholders – Able to coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure smooth survey operations.
Serving with Heart, Commitment and Purpose – Demonstrates care and responsiveness when supporting staff, contributing to a positive survey experience.

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
Graduated or graduating in 2024, 2025 or 2026 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024, 2025 or 2026.
Applicants must have no prior working experience and must be prepared to commit to a full-time traineeship.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2026 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2027 are eligible for the programme as well.

About Communicable Diseases Agency

The Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) was established in 2025 as a statutory board under Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) to serve as the central authority for public health policymaking to manage and control the threat of communicable diseases. This is aimed at strengthening Singapore's public health capabilities built during the COVID-19 response to ensure a unified command and coordinated approach across all situations, from routine disease control to future outbreaks. CDA safeguards the nation from communicable diseases through disease surveillance, outbreak investigations, vaccination programs, public education, and global health collaboration. Beyond domestic activities, the CDA aims to expand Singapore’s global outreach and foster collaboration with international partners.
