Full-stack Software Engineer, OurSG Grants Portal

The OurSG Grants Portal (OSG) is a Whole-of-Government platform that brings together grants for arts, community, culture, youth, and sports into a single, accessible portal. It supports both individuals and organisations, while enabling government agencies to administer and manage grant schemes efficiently.

The work you do will directly benefit the public and government agencies, contributing to outcomes that support social good.

The project is currently undergoing a major transition to a new solution, involving migration to and integration with multiple Whole-of-Government platforms such as Optical, OPUS, and ApplySG. As part of this effort, engineers are expected to understand these platforms, work across system boundaries, and design pragmatic solutions to close functional and technical gaps.

We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer who can work across frontend and backend concerns, contributing to both delivery and long-term system quality.

What You Will Do

• Drive deliverables independently and collaboratively, from problem definition through to implementation.

• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Owners to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.

• Work closely with UX designers to deliver intuitive and user-friendly application experiences.

• Design and implement solutions that meet functional, non-functional, and quality requirements.

• Participate in technical discussions with fellow engineers to shape solution design, implementation approaches, and code quality.

• Write automated tests and ensure the maintainability and reliability of the codebase.

• Strong experience with object-oriented design and programming concepts.

• Experience working with modern JavaScript frameworks.

• Experience designing and implementing APIs.

• Experience working with relational databases and designing maintainable, extensible database schemas.

• Familiarity with build tools such as Webpack.

• Understanding of how browser requests travel through networks to reach applications.

• Awareness of secure coding practices, including familiarity with OWASP Top 10 and common mitigations.

• Writes tests for code, with or without testing frameworks.

• Curious, self-directed, and able to pick up new knowledge independently.

• Collaborative and confident in sharing ideas and constructively challenging assumptions.

• Takes pride in code quality, maintainability, and correctness.

• Frontend: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS

• Backend: Go

• Others: APIs, SQL databases

Bonus Points

• Strong coding practices with a focus on readability, maintainability, and extensibility.

• Experience integrating with third-party systems.

• Understanding of OAuth2, authentication, and session management.

• Experience working with Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS.

• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tooling.

• Experience working in Agile development environments.
