What the role is
What you will be working on
Senior and Intergenerational Programmes
Working in a team to strategise, plan, and deliver museum-based and partner programmes for seniors (including seniors living with dementia and Mild Cognitive Impairments (MCI)), as well as groups with additional needs and specific segments of the society (e.g. children/youths). This includes working with contract staff to co-ordinate with volunteers, creating and curating thoughtfully-designed programme and tour content. The manager should also oversee the preparatory and ground operations of the programmes, including publicity, procurement, logistical and administrative works.
Conducting research for resources and programme content, including developing historically accurate and engaging scripts, guidebooks, and other resources. This also includes developing and analysing perception surveys to inform participants’ perceptions and inform future accessible programming.
Exploring and maintaining stakeholders and partners database to support collaborations and initiatives to reflect NMS’ efforts as an inclusive and accessible museum.
Volunteer Management
Oversee the management and branding of NMS’ Reunion Facilitators volunteers who will support the senior programmes. This includes managing volunteer recruitments, developing and strengthening the volunteer management SOPs, maintaining and tracking volunteers’ database, and reviewing practices to ensure the quality and wellbeing of the volunteers.
Developing and organising relevant and meaningful volunteers training, including encouraging grounds-up initiatives with the volunteers, and organising volunteers appreciation events.
Working collaboratively with other units and divisions to report key volunteer KPIs and share key developments as well as keep abreast of latest volunteer guidelines across NHB.
Strategic Development of Museum-Wide Programmes
Planning, developing, and executing other museum-wide programmes and initiatives, including creative wellbeing programmes that will value-add and strengthen NMS’ position as a People’s museum.
Planning, developing, and executing programmes in conjunction with larger festivals, to ensure strong collaboration between NMS, NHB, and other external organisations.
Any other roles and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
What we are looking for

Able to investigate to sense-make, proposing solutions based on organisational contexts, propose and implement sound and timely solutions. You would be required to propose actionable solutions and manage end-to-end activities.
[Working Effectively with Citizens and Stakeholders]: Work closely with other internal and external stakeholders, including partners and volunteers, to understand their context and collaborate effectively on implementing thoughtful initiatives and programmes. Empathise, influence and mobilise all parties to see beyond individual goals towards a collective purpose, and co-create solutions for the common good of enhancing museum-based practices.
[Innovating and Improving Continuously]: Contextualise and apply creative thinking and processes to uncover needs of social and cultural landscapes, to propose innovative approaches and programmes embedded within the museum and heritage settings. You would be required to demonstrate creativity in generating solutions to interdisciplinary issues surrounding the social and cultural sectors.
[Serving with Heart, Commitment, and Purpose]: Strong sense of empathy and willingness to listen to stakeholders, including co-creators, grounds-up partners, and access audiences. Able to create audience-sensitive SOPs and enact solutions such as relevant programmes which serves the needs of the specific senior and access audience groups.
Preferably minimum 3-5 years of experience in programme management, community engagement and/or volunteer engagement.
Good project management, stakeholder engagement, volunteer management and interpersonal skills. Possess critical-thinking skills. Friendly, meticulous and organised.
Good writing and verbal communication skills, preferably bilingual. Prepared to apply public speaking skills to engage with the museum’s audiences
Basic proficiency in other technical skills that can assist in the creation of public-facing collaterals and social media posts, as well as marketing materials using Canva or Adobe Photoshop will be advantageous.
A thoughtful and well-informed relationship to heritage, culture, history, and society. An academic background in the Arts, Humanities, and/or Social Sciences will be advantageous.
Able to work on some weekends and public holidays, with provision of time-off on weekdays.
Experience in working or volunteering with seniors/seniors living with dementia, and/ or other access groups will be preferred.
Additional experience in engaging children or youth will be a bonus
