About Venture Building (New Ventures)

EDB New Ventures is the venture building arm of EDB. Our aim is to support the creation and scaling of high potential new ventures from Singapore to become globally leading businesses. To do so, we supporting companies in their corporate venturing journey, experienced founders in building new ventures, and growth stage ventures to land their presence in Singapore. This includes embarking on joint venture building sprints alongside partner corporates / global founders, co-investment to risk-share early-stage growth of high potential ventures and active portfolio value creation support to scale each venture. We are also building founder platforms that foster greater exchanges between founders and accelerate growth of high potential ventures.

We are looking for a Senior Manager to join our New Ventures team to support the strategy and execution for our venturing efforts for corporates and high-potential founders. This is a two-pronged role – (i) establish partnerships with private sector and public sector organisations and cultivate key opinion leaders to deliver value to our founders and ventures, (ii) drive marketing activities to encourage corporate-startup partnerships. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple teams in EDB, to translate our work into business outcomes. Our community of founders and ventures is highly international and cuts across a diverse range of sectors, such as AI, deep tech, health care.

What you will be working on

Key Responsibilities:

As the Partnerships lead, you are responsible for the development and execution of our partnerships strategy from end-to-end, with the objective of providing value to our portfolio of founders and ventures. This is a role that requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution, to refine our strategy, identify suitable partners, and to accelerate the growth of our ventures.

Some of your tasks include, but are not limited to:  

Partnerships

  • Develop our strategy and programming to deliver value at scale to our community of founders and ventures
  • Develop our partnerships strategy to identify relevant partners and key opinion leaders (KOLs) who can deliver high value services, products, networks and insights to our founders and ventures
  • Negotiate with the relevant partners to establish the partnership scope and value exchange between NV and partners  
  • Cultivate key opinion leaders and design opportunities for them to provide insights and advice to our founders and ventures, and for KOLs to speak on their experiences in Singapore.
  • Execute the initiatives in collaboration with the partners, including organizing business matching events, connecting the founders and ventures to the relevant partners, gathering feedback on utility of the partnership initiatives, and cultivation of partner relationship.

Corporate-startup partnership marketing

  • Lead the marketing and communications strategy to raise awareness of Singapore’s efforts to encourage corporate-startup partnerships
  • Develop content to showcase success stories of corporate-startup partnerships
  • Execute campaigns in collaboration with the Corporate Venture Launchpad to cultivate interest among corporates to explore partnerships with startups

Founder engagement and venture management

  • Engage with global experienced founders, assess their track record and plans for Singapore, and attract and support them to build ventures in Singapore
  • Accelerate our ventures’ growth in Singapore and beyond, this includes supporting them in a variety of ways, such as availing government schemes and facilitating connections for them with the Singapore ecosystem.

What we are looking for

To meet the challenges of this role, you must have:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a related role for partnerships and / or community and / or marketing, preferably from a Venture Capital or accelerator firm
  • Excellent track record in at least 3 of the following:
    • Experience in setting up or managing a startup founder community from end-to-end, from strategy development to community management
    • Experience in managing multiple internal stakeholders and external partners, maintaining relationships and driving win-win outcomes
    • Experience in managing a portfolio of startups and providing value creation opportunities to support the growth of their business
    • Experience in integrated marketing, from campaign planning to multi-channel content creation and execution
  • A strong interest and passion for venture growth, partnerships, marketing, community engagement, and ecosystem building
  • Possess the following attributes and skillsets: 
    • Resourceful with a self-starter mindset and positive work attitude
    • Adaptable and be a strong team player in an agile environment
    • Confidence in engaging with internal and external stakeholders
    • Strong organisational, project management and analytical skills
    • Able to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Conversational business mandarin would be a plus
  • Singaporean
