What the role is

As an Assistant Scientific Manager in the Radiochemistry and Radiation Services Department under the Radiation Monitoring and Services Division, you will play a vital role in safeguarding the health and safety of radiation workers. Working within a dynamic team, you will support Singapore’s radiation protection regime by managing laboratory services, ensuring regulatory compliance, and upholding high radiation safety standards.

What you will be working on

As an Assistant Scientific Manager of the Radiochemistry and Radiation Services Department, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Support and perform personal dosimetry services efficiently and reliably to ensure worker safety across Singapore
  • Ensure the provision of an efficient and comprehensive personal dosimetry monitoring programme to safeguard the health of workers who may be exposed to radiation in the course of their work
  • Guide and supervise scientific executives to achieve service standards in personal dosimetry
  • Assist in evaluating the work procedures for personal radiation dose monitoring, driving continuous improvement in safety protocols
  • Assist in performing other laboratory services, such as survey meter calibration and sealed source leakage test
  • Participate in and perform inter-laboratory comparison tests to maintain international standards of excellence
  • Collate and prepare Ops data for reporting and compliance, ensuring regulatory and service standard requirements are met
  • Attend to and resolve enquiries related to dosimetry matters in accordance with stipulated service standards
  • Monitor and manage inventory and supplies to ensure seamless operations
  • Coordinate and liaise with internal departments, vendors, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Perform any other duties as required by the supervisors

What we are looking for

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma in physics/ chemistry/ applied science/ engineering science/ radiation-related science; or engineering disciplines (chemical/ electrical/ mechanical/ environmental) 
  • At least 2 years of relevant working experience in a laboratory environment, with experience in radiation protection, dosimetry, or ISO17025 being an advantage
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
  • Experience in vendor management and customer engagement preferred
  • Highly self-motivated, meticulous, and takes initiative in your work
  • Able to work in a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to work effectively under tight deadlines, adaptive to changes and possess a positive work attitude
  • Have a passion for innovative and enjoy working across diverse teams
  • Good interpersonal communication and writing skills
