Officer/Senior Officer (Conservation) - Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

What the role is

You will be part of the conservation team based at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve (SBWR) that manages infrastructure programmes and development projects that enhance visitor experience and conservation efforts.

What you will be working on

Your responsibilities include the following:

  • Support conservation operations through effective management of reserve infrastructure and facilities

  • Develop maintenance programmes that ensure reserve facilities support both conservation work and visitor experiences

  • Maintain critical public safety infrastructure including tree safety inspections and coordinating arboriculture work

  • Oversee boat maintenance and various procurement contracts and administrative functions

  • Participate in bird ringing activities and wildlife surveys as part of the conservation programme

  • Coordinate team rosters, brief outsourced staff and volunteers, and manage fieldwork logistics

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards whilst maintaining proper documentation and reporting

  • Liaise with stakeholders to understand facility requirements and provide timely solutions to operational challenges

What we are looking for

  • Areas of study in Environmental Management, Life Science, Botany, Zoology, Engineering, Facilities Management, or related discipline in applied sciences for conservation is preferred

  • Experience working with wildlife and plants in nature conservation areas, especially wetlands/mudflats preferred

  • Knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and environmental compliance requirements preferred

  • Enjoy working in an outdoor environment and with a diverse group of people i.e. contractors, specialists, experts

  • Able to work on weekends and public holidays on roster basis

  • Proactive, good interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and in a team

  • Well-organised with good multi-tasking abilities
